Linux Systems Engineer

We need a Linux guru to help us architect, implement, and support our next-generation web-hosted application.

Responsibilities:

• Configure MySQL for maximum uptime and performance
• Configure MySQL backups and replication
• Web server performance tuning
• Manage and expand system monitoring capabilities
• Perform systems performance analysis and track metrics over time
• Ensure storage integrity and scaleability for millions of files

Requirements:

• Experience in managing multiple Linux servers (familiarity w/ Debian is a plus)
• Experience configuring MySQL for high availability and performance
• Experience installing and maintaining open source email applications, including Postfix and SpamAssassin
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Munin, or Monit
• Experience with Apache, lighthttpd or nginx
• Strong scripting skills - knowledge of ruby is a plus
• Strong knowledge of file systems, including NFS
• Knowledge of Amazon EC2 and S3 is a plus
• Knowledge of Ruby and/or Java is a plus
